Ribbon & decal label
Ribbons and decal labels are two important components in the printing and labeling process. Here are some details about them:
Ribbon
Barcode ink, also known as Ribbon, is a thermal ink used in thermal transfer barcode printers. Barcode ink typically has three main components:
- Base material layer: Is a type of polyester film, has good heat conduction and can withstand tension.
- Ink layer: Covered on one side of the barcode printing paper. Depending on the type of barcode printer, the Ribbon ink will be the outer Ribbon or the inner Ribbon.
- Protective coating: Helps protect the printer and prevent printer wear and tear.
Ribbons are divided into three main groups:
- Wax: Low cost, suitable for indoor barcode printing applications such as stores and supermarkets.
- Wax/Resin: The price is higher than Wax, the durability is also higher.
- Resin: Most expensive, suitable for printing barcode labels for harsh environments, high durability, often used for silver decals, PVC decals and fabric decals.
Label
Decal labels are self-adhesive labels that can be applied to a variety of surfaces. Decal labels are often used to print product information, barcodes, logos, and other information. There are many different types of decal labels, including:
- Paper decal: Suitable for short term applications and do not require high durability.
- Decal PVC: Withstands harsher environmental conditions, suitable for outdoor applications.
- Ruban/Satin: Often used in the garment and fashion industry.
Both ribbons and decal labels play an important role in ensuring product information is printed clearly and durably.
Ribbon
- Prepare the printer: Make sure your barcode printer is properly connected and installed.
- Install ribbon: Open the printer cover and insert the ribbon into place. Make sure the ribbon is installed in the correct direction and is not wrinkled.
- Set print parameters: Set printing parameters on the printer or control software, including printing temperature, printing speed, and label length.
- Testing: Make a test print to check the print quality and adjust if necessary.
- Printing: Once set up correctly, you can start printing barcode labels on demand.
Label
- Prepare label: Choose the type of decal label that suits your application (paper, plastic, fabric, etc.).
- Install decal label: Place the roll of decal labels into the printer and make sure the labels are pulled straight and not wrinkled.
- Set print parameters: Set printing parameters on the printer or control software, including label size, label spacing, and label length.
- Testing: Make a test print to check the print quality and adjust if necessary.
- Printing: Once set up correctly, you can start printing decal labels as needed.
Noted
- Preservation of ribbon and decal labels: Keep ribbon and decal labels in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and high temperatures.
- Periodic check: Regularly check and maintain the printer to ensure stable operation and prolong the life of the machine.
- Use the correct ribbons and labels: Make sure to use the correct ribbons and decal labels for your printer to achieve the best print quality.
